Anthony Gordon picks Newcastle’s Player of the Season so far and says it’s not Alexander Isak

Anthony Gordon has just named his Newcastle Player of the Season so far and much to everyone’s surprise it is not Alexander Isak.

Gordon netted his sixth goal of the season to hand Newcastle a 2-0 lead over Arsenal in the Cﷺarabao Cup semi-final at the halfway point꧂.

Eddie Howe’s side were excellent at the Emirates as they inflicted the Gunners’ first defeat since early 💛November.

After the win in North London, th𓂃e winger labelled Newcatsle’s defend♒er as their Player of the Season so far.

Anthony Gordon believes that Dan Burn has been Newcastle’s best player this seas⛄on after they kept a clean sheet at 🐲the Emirates.

Alexander Isak has been on fire for the Magpies this season, however, Gordon claims that Burn’s work in defence has b༺een outstanding in every game.

Newcastle had to do a lot of defending against M𒐪ikel Arteta’s side, especially towards the end, but they limited the hosts to very low-quality chances.

Gordon told ITV Football: “Defensively it’s all about attitude and our attitude today [vs Arsenal] was unbelievable to a man. But I want to mention Dan Burn, he’s bee🤡n our Player of the Season, for🐼 me, every game he’s been outstanding.”

Burn was superb at t💧he Emirates on Tuesday evening and fully deserves all the plaudits he will get for his display in North London.

Arsenal put the Tyneside club under a lot of 🐻pressure following their second goal, however, Howe’s backline proved to be resolute.

Newcastle opt𒀰ed to sit back and soak up the pressure the hosts tried to apply but the North Londoner🌃s ended up bitterly frustrated.

The former Brighton﷽ man was key to helping Newcastle’s defence as he managed six clearances, two blocked, won four out of five aeria🐭l duels and managed a 100 per cent pass success rate.
