Another player now set for Aston Villa medical along with Donyell Malen after £6.7m fee agreed
Aston Villa are close to announcing their first signing of the winter transfer window.
A fee of £22m has been agreed with Borussia Dortmund for Donyell Malen – who is set to undergo a medical with Aston Villa in the coming hours.
The German giants have already announced that the Netherlands international has been left out of the squad for Tuesday’s Bundesliga clash against Holstein Kiel ahead of his move to Villa Park.
Now – according to Turkish journalist Yakup Çınar – Aston Villa are close to making another signing after agreeing a deal with Kasimpasa for Yasin Ozcan.
Aston Villa strike £6.7m Yasin Ozcan agreement
Çınar has now taken to X (previously known as Twitter) to reveal that Aston Villa have agreed an €8m (£6.7m) deal with Kasimpasa for the 18-year-old.
It is said that Ozcan will undergo a medical with Aston Villa on Tuesday before signing his contract, and will see out the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Kasimpasa before Unai Emery welcomes him properly in the summer.
The central defender has made 17 Süper Lig appearances so far this season, providing one assist to help Kasimpasa sit 12th at the time of writing.
Yasin Ozcan was nominated for the Golden Boy award
Ozcan – who Liverpool wanted to sign last summer – is a precocious talent.
The teenager was even nominated for the 2024 Golden Boy Award – a prize given to the best U21 player within Europe’s top leagues.

Previously, the likes of Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham have won the Golden Boy award – some of the best to ever play the game – so the mere fact Ozcan was nominated for his efforts in the Super Lig speaks volumes.
Hopefully, the Istanbul-born sensation can enjoy a strong end to the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Kasimpasa, and arrive at Villa Park ready to challenge for a starting role under Emery this summer.
