Angus Kinnear discusses Leeds United investment opportunity after summer reports of Qatari interest
Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear has told that the club’s owner Andrea Radrizzani is open to investment if it is right for the club.
He stated his belief that Leeds is one of the ‘most investable’ clubs in world football but that anyone who buys into the club must share the vision the Italian currently has for Leeds.
“We’re not desperate for investment. Andrea has always been clear that he is prepared to bring a partner on board if they can help take the club forward quicker in a more sustainable fashion.
“It’s not surprising that we have lots of interest, I think we’re one of the most investable propositions in world football. We’re a one-club city with a fantastic stadium and fantastic supporter base. Everyone knows we should be in the Premier League.
“We want someone who will buy into our vision and work with us.”
TBR’s View
Of course, Leeds United were heavily linked with outside investment in the summer. back in May that the Qatari governments sporting wing, known as QSI, were looking to invest in Leeds.
No deal ever happened but the rumours still rumble on and potential investment from a financial backer who turned PSG into French under-achievers to European powerhouse would certainly be a game-changer at Elland Road.
This summer it became clear that Leeds’ current owner does not have the deepest pockets. The sales of Pontus Jansson, Kemar Roofe and Bailey Peacock-Farrell certainly backed that up.
If in the future, backers from Qatar or elsewhere do come in with the right proposal it is good to hear that Radrizzani would be open to a dialogue. With his vision but some heftier financial clout, the sky could be the limit for Leeds United.
