Angelo Ogbonna, Declan Rice and Anton Ferdinand react to West Ham news

that they have completed the permanent signing of defender Craig Dawson after an excellent loan spell from Watford this season – prompting reaction from Declan Rice and plenty of others.

Joining the Hammers on loan from Championship promotion hopefuls Watford last summer on a season-long loan with a view to buying him permanently – the overall reaction was one of concern at the decision to sign Dawson.

At 30, Dawson had enjoyed plenty of years in the Premier League but he was hardly the big-name kind of signing that West Ham fans have become accustomed to. Fast forward until now, and he has been sensational for West Ham.

Dawson failed to make his West Ham debut in the Premier League until December 29, but has since started and finished the last 15 league games. In that time, West Ham have kept six clean sheets, and he has scored three.

The Hammers were left with no option other than to make his loan deal a permanent one, confirming as such on Tuesday. It is believed Dawson reached the required number of appearances to trigger a £3million deal.

Plenty have reacted to his confirmed move, especially on Instagram. West Ham players Rice, Angelo Ogbonna and Pablo Fornals all commented, as did ex-Hammers stars Carlton Cole and Anton Ferdinand.
