Ange Postecoglou update emerges as Tottenham said to have held meetings over ‘amazing’ manager

Tottenham Hotspur have ended the season on the highest possible note, having won the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League.

Ange Postecoglou’s record of winning trophies in his second season continues unabated as he delivered a first trophy in 17 years for Tottenham – and a European one to boot.

Despite having just done what no Spurs manager has been able to do since 2008, Postecoglou’s future remains uncertain.

Now, Gianluca Di Marzio has provided an update regarding Tottenham’s manager situation, in which he spoke about Postecoglou and Fulham’s Marco Silva.

Chances of Ange Postecoglou staying at Tottenham ‘have increased’

Silva has been heavily linked with Tottenham in recent weeks, with TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey confirming Silva is indeed on Spurs’ managerial candidate list.

TBR Football also confirmed that the Silva had turned down a move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, which Di Marzio corroborated on his website.

Di Marzio also said Tottenham ‘had also made moves’ over Silva – a manager who Fulham’s hierarchy has called ‘amazing’ – and held meetings.

He then claimed that, in the ‘last few hours, the chances of Postecoglou remaining on the Spurs bench have increased.’

The suggestion is that Daniel Levy may be making a U-turn on Postecoglou’s future amid speculation suggesting he’s looking to part company with the head coach.

What Robbie Keane has urged Daniel Levy to do about Ange Postecoglou

The prospect of sacking a manager immediately after he’s led the club to a major European trophy is not the sort of thing that would go down well with most fanbases.

Tottenham cult hero Robbie Keane is of the same opinion as he urged the club to give Postecoglou more time to build his squad.

“Give him time,” Keane said of Postecoglou on talkSPORT. “The fans have been desperate for this for a long (time) – as you said, 17 years since we won (a trophy).

“Give him time, give him the chance to build again.”

With Tottenham in the Champions League, they’ll have a lot more pulling power in the transfer market, which means Postecoglou could really strengthen his ranks.
