And although Spurs would love to have him back, it seems as if Sarr will be missing when David Moyes’ side come to visit.

Postecoglou suggested that Sarr was unlikely to feature against West Ham, but may be back for Tottenham on the weekend.

: “Probably tomorrow might be a bit too quick for him but he should be available for Sunday.”

Of course, this will be a blow for Tottenham, but a situation they are very familiar with right now.

Perhaps Yves Bissouma, who had a rare poor performance against Manchester City, is missing Sarr’s presence more than anyone.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Postecoglou named mostly unchanged team, although Richarlison may come in.

Bryan Gil struggled against City, a player who may have now blown his last chance.

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr is unlikely to face West Ham

Of course, West Ham do have their own injury issues heading into the London derby.

Michail Antonio seems likely to miss the game, which will likely see Jarrod Bowen continue up top.

One massive boost for Tottenham will be the return of Cristian Romero.

A partnership with Ben Davies now looks as if it will see the side through until either Micky van de Ven returns or a signing is made.

Romero’s absence has almost felt more than three games, given how dramatic the recent period has been.

Postecoglou will surely be much more confident heading into the West Ham game with a more familiar back line – one that can play his football.

And although he’s not the same player, Davies has shown promising signs that he can deputise for his Dutch counterpart.

Moreover, Guglielmo Vicario’s importance shouldn’t be forgotten ahead of a busy festive period.

The goalkeeper is a glowing example of the side’s work in the transfer window last summer.

And his signing also helped avoid what could have proved to be a costly mistake
