Ange Postecoglou shares when he hopes Dominic Solanke will return from injury for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for their second Premier League game of the season as Everton come to north London.

Spurs will be playing their first competitive home game of the season and will be eager to make amends from their disappointing opener.

got their season under way at newly-promoted Leicester City, and for a while everything was going to plan in the East Midlands.

Spurs were rampant from the off and could’ve easily scored multiple goals in the first half at the King Power Stadium.

However, Tottenham spurned multiple opportunities and, as it turned out, one goal wasn’t enough as Leicester struck back and claimed a point.

Spurs will now be up against an Everton team that also has a point to prove, having lost 3-0 to Brighton at the weekend.

Tottenham will be without Dominic Solanke for the game due to an ankle injury, and Ange Postecoglou has now shared when he hopes the striker will be back.

Ange Postecoglou says Dominic Solanke could potentially return for Newcastle v Tottenham

Postecoglou, speaking at his pre-match press conference – as per – revealed that Solanke still has a chance of making the Newcastle game.

“It’s not serious enough to keep him out for five weeks, he’s still got a chance for the Newcastle game. That’s the extent of it, it’s just about how quickly he recovers,” he said.

“Every story is written differently. They’re not all fairy tales where you come and make your debut and score a hat-trick.

“He was very good for us at Leicester and we’re disappointed because it was really exciting to see that he is going to fit in really well with what we’re doing.

“I’ve no doubt about that. It’s just a small hiccup. He misses a game or two, it’s game one of 50-plus games. He’ll have plenty of opportunities to recover from that.

“For me the exciting bit was just watching him in the team last week. I can just tell he’s going to be a really good fit.”

Postecoglou was also asked whether he put an arm around the £65million summer signing after a setback so early on in his Spurs spell.

“You know I’m not that type mate,” Postecoglou joked. “He’s a big man and I have always said this to footballers – nothing runs smoothly.

“And think of the poor old manager – forget the player, what about me? I’ve just lost my key striker a week and a half after buying him – I need an arm around me!

“No, it’s all good. We didn’t sign Dom for one match and he knows that. He’s here hopefully for a long time to have a real impact at this club and bring success to it.

“I was excited with what we saw last week and this is just a small bump in the road. I’m sure he will be looking forward to getting back out there.”

How Solanke fared in his Tottenham debut

As per , Solanke registered an xG (expected goals) of 0.34 and an xA (expected assists) of 0.15 away at Leicester.
