Ange Postecoglou shares how Spurs landed Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall

Tottenham Hotspur came up trumps once again in the transfer window.

Following their great efforts in the summer, Spurs brought in two solid first-team signings and landed a potential future star in January.

Tottenham began the year by signing Timo Werner on loan and also beating Bayern Munich to Radu Dragusin.

Then, on transfer deadline day, Spurs triumphed against another giant of football – Barcelona – in the race to agree a deal with Lucas Bergvall.

Signing great players is one thing, but beating the likes of Bayern and Barca to those players is arguably one of the most difficult things to do in football.

Tottenham hoping to become ‘a preferred destination for talented young players’

Ange Postecoglou, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League trip to Everton, was asked how Spurs did it.

Alasdair Gold asked the Tottenham boss, as per : “What are you saying to these guys to convince them to sign for Tottenham?”

Postecoglou replied: “I don’t think it’s so much what we’re saying, it’s more what people are seeing. That’s the important thing.

“It’s like anything in life, you can try to sell a vision or something to someone but if there’s tangible physical evidence of it.

“Anyone who has watched us since I’ve joined will have seen the aspirations we have to be the kind of team we want to be.

“That’s not just me saying it, we’re actually doing it. Okay, we’re not the finished product by any stretch but we’re giving young players an opportunity.

“Destiny, Pape and Micky, all guys in their early 20s who have already played significant roles. So we’re building a team.

“From our perspective it’s pleasing and hopefully we become a club which is a preferred destination for talented young players.”

Credit to Tottenham and to Postecoglou for overseeing such a great – and quick – turnaround in fortunes.

In the space of a few months, the Spurs boss has made the club a great place to be for players and staff, while also doing the business on the field.

That in turn inspires players to look at the Tottenham setup and think ‘I want to be part of this’. Long may it continue.
