Ange Postecoglou says 23-year-old Spurs player has been great in training

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has spoken highly of Ryan Sessegnon following his return to training this week.

The Spurs boss, speaking to , says the 23-year-old has “done well in training” and has urged him to keep up the good work.

Sessegnon has sadly endured another very difficult season at Tottenham due to injury issues.

The 23-year-old has played just once for Spurs this term, getting seven minutes under his belt in the FA Cup third-round win over Burnley in January.

Sessegnon is now back from a hamstring issue and will be desperate to return to action soon in a bid to properly show Postecoglou what he can do.

The Tottenham boss, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, seems pleased with what he’s seen from the player so far.

“He’s back training, that’s the first thing,” Postecoglou said of Sessegnon. “Now he’s got to put together a body of work together in training and then we’ll assess it from there.

“This is his first week with us. Like I said, with Sess it’s about getting a body of work together – to give him confidence and us confidence that his body will be good.

“So far this week he’s trained well, done everything that’s been asked of him, and I hope that continues.”

Ryan Sessegnon back in Tottenham training and working hard

We all hope that Sessegnon can put his injury and fitness issues behind him once and for all, and get his career back on track.

The ‘‘ full-back has been at Tottenham since 2019, when he joined Spurs from Fulham as one of the most exciting youngsters in the English game.

However, Sessegnon has clocked up just 57 competitive outings for Tottenham, not a high amount considering he has been at the club for nearly five years.

His Spurs contract runs until the summer of 2025, so hopefully he can turn a corner in terms of his fitness and get back to his best in order to give Postecoglou food for thought.
