Ange Postecoglou says 22-year-old Spurs player has been ‘outstanding’ in training

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has sung Radu Dragusin’s praises, deeming him “ready to play” for Spurs.

The Tottenham boss, speaking to , says the 22-year-old defender has been “outstanding” in training sessions.

Dragusin has enjoyed a decent start to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following his January move from Genoa to Spurs.

Postecoglou is easing the player into action at Tottenham, having given him several Premier League cameos off the bench.

The Romania international has made three appearances to date for Spurs to date.

The Spurs boss has stressed that Dragusin is still in a period of adaptation, but he hinted that the January signing could potentially get more game time in the coming months.

“He has been great, he’s working hard,” Postecoglou said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Wolves.

“He was at Genoa and he was playing. If just playing was all he was interested in then he would have stayed at Genoa. If you want to move to big clubs then that’s part of the process.

“He knew that and that’s why I wanted him here because he knew the challenge of coming here and playing was not just going to be a given.

“It’s about working your way. He’s adapting. We play a lot differently to what he’s used to, we’ve used him in games and I think he’s done well when we’ve used him.

“Again, we didn’t buy him for six months, we brought him to this football club for a long time and we’ve already seen this year what losing our two central defenders what impact that had on our season.

“I don’t want that to happen in the future so Radu is here for that and the next three to four months before the end of the season it’s about him adapting and working hard.

“He’s been outstanding in training, great attitude, great amongst the players. The players can really see the qualities he has and he’s ready to play.”

Spurs famously beat Bayern Munich and Napoli to Dragusin’s signature. It just goes to show their pull, and he’s not the only exciting young talent they’ve signed in recent years.

Pape Matar Sarr, Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski… there are a lot of great young players now at Tottenham who could really be the foundations of an incredible trophy-winning squad in years to come.
