Ange Postecoglou now set to offload Tottenham player who shone in 5-1 win vs Hearts
Ange Postecoglou is now ready to offload a player who has actually been one of Tottenham’s best performers in pre-season so far.
The Australian is streamlining his squad after a solid debut campaign in N17, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg already on his way out of Hotspur Way after a deal was agreed with Marseille.
Now, another player could follow the Dane out of Tottenham…
Ange Postecoglou makes decision on Djed Spence
A story from in Turkey now claims that Djed Spence is not in Postecoglou’s plans for next season, with Galatasaray keen to sign the Londoner.
The Turkish news outlet believe Galatasaray will soon make contact with Spurs to begin talks over a deal.
It comes after Spence shone for Tottenham in the recent 5-1 friendly win over Hearts, scoring and assisting in a 45 minute cameo few expected him to be given by Postecoglou, while he also did well in the 2-0 victory against QPR.
The £20m man has previously annoyed the 58-year-old, with Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail claiming that the defender has no future at Tottenham while the Greece-born tactician is at the helm.
Mokbel also suggested that Postecoglou was furious with Spence after Leeds terminated his loan spell early last season.

An earlier story from the Evening Standard added that the Tottenham boss was upset with the 23-year-old for his general attitude and and timekeeping during pre-season last summer.
Therefore, it seems that Spence’s impressive showing against Hearts has not been enough to change Postecoglou’s mind, with those negative first impressions in 2023 proving strong.
Tottenham must sign a right-back
Spence is not the only right-back who looks set to leave Tottenham this summer, with Emerson Royal nearing a move to AC Milan.
That leaves Pedro Porro as Postecoglou’s only natural right-back, so a new face must be signed in that department, or else Spurs will find themselves in a sticky situation if the Spain international suffers an injury next season.

Of course, Archie Gray can play at right-back, although believe the 18-year-old was signed to play in central midfield.

Therefore, if both Emerson and Spence depart, a new right-back certainly wouldn’t go amiss.
