Ange Postecoglou now more likely to keep 23-year-old than ‘outstanding’ Tottenham player
Oliver Skipp is more likely to have a long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur than Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg under Ange Postecoglou.
That’s according to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold, who has been discussing Tottenham’s current options in midfield.
Spurs picked up a 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Friday evening thanks to goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.
Ange Postecoglou recorded back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since October following a difficult spell due to injuries and suspensions. But the Aussie would have been left frustrated after Friday’s win as Destiny Udogie and Yves Bissouma will now miss next weekend’s trip to Goodison Park.
Indeed, Bissouma was shown a straight red after a late challenge on Ryan Yates and faces a four-game suspension.
It will likely keep the 26-year-old out until the end of January at the earliest due to next month’s AFCON.
Both Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have struggled for starts this term due to Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr’s form.

The latter has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, with Juventus reportedly keen.
And Alasdair Gold has been speaking about the duo on the podcast and feels Skipp is more likely to have a long-term future at Spurs.
Skipp more likely to stay at Tottenham than Hojbjerg
Gold admitted that he’d like to see Skipp get a run in the Spurs side in Bissouma’s absence over the coming weeks.
The journalist added that Hojbjerg seems destined to leave North London, while Skipp could head out on loan next summer should his game time not improve.
“I’d like to see Postecoglou give him [Skipp] a shot in his natural position,” the journalist said. “I think he deserves it and let’s be honest, he’s more likely to have a long-term future than Hojbjerg.
“I still think Skippy might be off next summer, potentially on a loan somewhere, because of the lack of game time.
“But Hojbjerg seems destined to leave. I just wonder if it benefits you more to give Skipp a little chance to have a run in there.”

Postecoglou has often called on Hojbjerg from the bench ahead of Skipp this term.
The ‘outstanding’ Dane has put in some decent displays from the bench but has failed to impress while starting from the off.
Yet, Skipp came off the bench before Hojbjerg on Friday and the 23-year-old put in a decent display against Steve Cooper’s side.
It will be intriguing to see who Postecoglou turns to on Saturday when Spurs travel to Everton.
