Ange Postecoglou names the Tottenham star who had their ‘best game for Spurs’ in 4-1 win vs West Ham
Ange Postecoglou believes one of Tottenham Hotspur’s stars had their best-ever game in a Spurs shirt in their win over West Ham United.
Tottenham produced a thumping 4-1 win over the Hammers as they emphatically responded to their defeat to Brighton before the international break.
West Ham took an early lead through Mohamed Kudus, however, a strong turnaround in the second-half saw Postecoglou claim his first major London derby win.
Goals from Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son, Yves Bissouma and an Alphonse Areola own goal secured a crucial three points for the hosts.
Postecoglou’s side were finally rewarded for a strong performance with a positive result and the Australian manager has been full of praise for one of his players.

Brennan Johnson has his best game in a Tottenham shirt
Postecoglou reckons that Brennan Johnson’s performance against West Ham was his best ever in a Spurs shirt despite his goal-scoring streak coming to an end.
Johnson failed to score for the first time in seven matches, however, his overall display in the 4-1 win really impressed the Tottenham boss.
The 59-year-old claims his work rate in both the attacking and defensive phases made him really standout and was crucial in helping secure the three points.
Speaking to the media after the win, Postecoglou said: “I mentioned it to the lads, I know Brennan Johnson didn’t score today but I thought that was his best performance for us with the amount of work he did to help out Pedro and help out the team in a defensive capacity and still be a threat going the other way.”
What are the media saying about Brennan Johnson vs West Ham?
The media don’t seem to quite agree with Postecoglou’s comments about it being Johnson’s best game for Tottenham, although they were impressed by his display.

“He was unable to make it eight goals in eight successive goals for club and country but it was another good outing from the Wales international.”
The couldn’t believe how close he came to extending his run to eight goals in eight but were still impressing also handing him a 7/10: “Inches away from scoring for the seventh game running with a cutting volley, but that run had to end some time, and it did here.”
use a slightly different rating system and gave him 51 per cent: “Desperate to net in a seventh consecutive game for Spurs and the Welsh forward came agonisingly close to equalling a club record. His five attempts on goal, one ended on target, resulted in a 0.51 xG score and this average rating.”
