Ange Postecoglou names the three Tottenham players who were ‘fantastic’ in Man City Carabao Cup win

Tottenham Hotspur recorded a statement 2-1 win against Manchester City at home to book their place in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals.

The home side raced to a two-goal lead thanks to Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr, but Matheus Nunes halved the deficit right before the interval.

Manchester City fought back valiantly in the second half but Tottenham hung on to secure a win despite resting a handful of key players.

And Ange Postecoglou has showered praise on three players who did their reputation no harm against Pep Guardiola’s side.

During the course of the game, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Werner were substituted due to injury concerns.

However, Postecoglou feels his squad is well-equipped to deal with such issues as he praised the likes of Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray and Rodrigo Bentancur, who were drafted into the starting XI for the Carabao Cup clash.

“I know we have a much more well-rounded squad to cope with these things,” said Postecoglou when asked about Tottenham’s recent injury woes.

“You saw guys like Radu [Dragusin], Archie [Gray] and Rodrigo [Bentancur] come in tonight and they did a fantastic job for the team. A lot of players didn’t play tonight who could come in now and take up the slack.”
