Ange Postecoglou makes claim about Lucas Bergvall after watching him in Tottenham training

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou seems delighted to have finally welcomed Lucas Bergvall to the club after a five-month wait.

Spurs signed Bergvall from Djurgarden at the beginning of February but made the sensible decision to allow the 18-year-old to continue his development with the Swedish club.

Before linking up with Postecoglou and his new Tottenham teammates, Bergvall was able to play 12 Allsvenskan games – a league which started in April.

Therefore, the young Sweden international, who has already won his first cap for his country, is likely the most match sharp of any Spurs player right now.

And when Tottenham play Hearts on Wednesday evening, Bergvall will be looking to prove that point, should he get his chance.

The youngster has been handed the #15 shirt by the club for the coming season, which seems to be an indicator that he will be close to Postecoglou’s first team squad.

It wasn’t impossible that Bergvall could spend some time adapting with Wayne Burnett’s team when he first arrived – but it seems as if Postecoglou has deemed him ready for senior games.

Ange Postecoglou says Lucas Bergvall has a great ‘appetite’ in training

That being said, Postecoglou has been speaking about Bergvall’s arrival and his start in pre-season training over on .

The Tottenham manager said that Bergvall had been incredibly keen to get to England and get started, and judging by Postecoglou’s words, the Swede isn’t wasting any time to impress.

Postecoglou said: “He’s been champing at the bit to get over here. He’s come in and looked really good in training.

“I’m pleased to have him as part of the group. We knew that he would have a great deal to offer, he’s a great young player, but he also has a real good appetite for work and wanting to improve.”

Interestingly, Bergvall was recently labelled the best midfielder at shooting in world football for under-19 players – another string to his bow.

And Tottenham fans will surely be incredibly excited to see their new arrival lining up alongside Archie Gray, both in pre-season and perhaps even cup competitions in the year to come.

It’s all looking incredibly promising in N17, but unfortunately it seems as if Tottenham could now struggle to sign Desire Doue – another key target of Postecoglou’s.
