Ange Postecoglou wowed by one Tottenham player vs K League XI
Tottenham have started off very impressively in pre-season with the highlight perhapsꦐ being the displays shown by some of their young p🥂layers.
Postecoglou is building𒊎 a squad for the ღlong-term in north London with even some of his regular starters from last season still very young.
There are numerous players still under the age of 22 who have featured regularly under the Austraꦕlian in the Premier L𝓀eague.
But there was one 21-year-old on Wednesday who Postecoglou was left wowed by as he waxed lyrical about his performance in his posꦿt-game press conference.
Speaking to the after the game, Postecoglou took the opportunity to hail the display of midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.
“ꦺI think Lucas found it tough physically. It’s a very demanding role in there ওand it’s going to take us a while to get him up to speed from a physical perspective, but you can see the quality he has when he’s on the ball,” said the Spurs boss.
“And Archie, he’s what he’s shown the whole time. He’s been very composed, he seꩵems to understand the game really well and for the most part, I thought he was taking up the right positions. But again, physically I think we’re gonna have to build him up.
“I💙 thought Pape’s running is just unbelievable. He’s a benchmark for us in that m𒆙idfield area.”
Midfield competition really heating up at Tottenham
Interestingly, on Wednesday, James Maddi𝓀son was reduced to the bench for the game against the K𝓰 League XI.
The midfield three was made up of Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray in what was a midfielder tha♒t was packed full of potential.
Come the season opener against Leicester City, it is ꦡunlikely Postecoglou will start those three given the lack of Premier League experience for Bergvall and Gray.
But these two youngsters have arrived this summer and been heavily involved in pre-season showing the likes of Rodrigo🌸 Bentancur he is going🐻 to have a real challenge on his hands when he returns from his break.
