Ange Postecoglou hints ‘incredible’ Tottenham player could feature under him for first time ever vs Man Utd
Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup.
Spurs are desperate to end their trophy drought this season. It has been over 16 years since they last lifted any silverware, which is a terrible record.
Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool have all booked their place in the semi-final of the competition. One of Tottenham or Manchester United will join them on Thursday night.
Ahead of the game, Ange Postecoglou has shared an update on the availability of one player who has never played under him before.
Ange Postecoglou hints Sergio Reguilon could play for Tottenham vs Manchester United
Sergio Reguilon joined Tottenham from Real Madrid back in 2020.
The Spaniard produced a few impressive performances early on in his Spurs career, but he has been surplus to requirements at the club for a few years now.
None of Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte or Postecoglou have really fancied him, but Reguilon could now get a surprise opportunity.
Against Manchester United on Thursday night, Postecoglou confirmed that Spurs will only have four senior players on the bench.
One of them is Reguilon, and the Tottenham manager has hinted that he could give the left-back an opportunity for the first time since he took charge of the club.
When asked about Reguilon’s absence, Postecoglou said, as per : “He had a tooth extraction that kept him out. He was bedridden but he’s available for selection.
“He’s available, so he’s available for selection and again tomorrow we’ll get Biss back but everyone else is out and he will be back in the squad and it will be an opportunity to use him because we’ll have probably only four first team players on the subs’ bench of which he’ll be one.”

Reguilon could solve one key Tottenham problem
Postecoglou has never given Reguilon an opportunity in the first-team before at Tottenham.
The Spaniard, once hailed as ‘incredible’ by , was expected by everyone to leave Spurs in the summer, but for one reason or another, he could not find a new club.
Tottenham’s injury issues could now open the door for Reguilon. Postecoglou revealed on Wednesday that Destiny Udogie cannot start two games in a week because of fatigue.
With Ben Davies also out, Reguilon is the only natural available left-back. He could solve the issues Spurs have in that area whenever Udogie cannot play in the coming weeks.
It remains to be seen how many minutes, if any, Reguilon will get against Manchester United in the EFL Cup on Thursday night.
