Ange Postecoglou has performed U-turn on ‘unbelievable’ Tottenham player who was set to leave this summer

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer of spending has taken a major boost over the last few days with the arrival of Dominic Solanke.

The north London side now have their new striker in the building ahead of their season opener against Leicester City on Monday.

Ange Postecoglou promised change coming into the summer and Spurs have certainly seen that so far.

However, the majority of the changes made at Tottenham have been player departures with only two of the four signings made actually new faces ready to start the new season.

Although there have been plenty of player exits from north London, Spurs could now be about to save some money on the need to replace one of their current players who looked set to depart this summer.

Ange Postecoglou now wants Tottenham player to stay this summer

Reports on Tuesday suggested Tottenham were ready to lodge an opening bid of £34m for the Monaco right-back Vanderson.

This came on the back of Emerson Royal’s move away from Tottenham to join AC Milan earlier in the week.

According to , the Tottenham boss has now decided he would like to keep Djed Spence at the club this summer.

Spence has completely turned the tables in north London with the right-back now looking like a valuable member of the squad.

The Spurs correspondent has also suggested that the reports of Spurs looking to bring in another right-back were wide of the mark.

It has been quite the summer for Spence, but this has to act as the start of his revival at Tottenham with the proof being in the pudding that is the Premier League campaign.

He is unlikely to be starting ahead of Pedro Porro but he could be needed to rotate with the Spain international due to the Lilywhites’ busy schedule.

Tottenham were ready to sell Djed Spence

The north London side came into the summer looking set to offload both Spence and Emerson with a need to bolster at right-back.

Genoa’s CEO had said earlier in the window there were a number of sides looking to sign Spence from Tottenham.

However, Ange Postecoglou has already admitted that Spence may have just saved his Spurs career this summer.

The right-back showed a renewed attitude during Tottenham’s pre-season where he played a considerable amount of minutes.

Spence even showed his ability to play on the other side of the defence if needed as a potential backup option to Destiny Udogie.

It would be fair to say the right-back has been perhaps the surprise package of Tottenham’s summer.
