Ange Postecoglou has ‘big plans’ for 22-year-old Tottenham player

Tottenham forward Brennan Johnson could be in for a big 2024 after apparently impressing Ange Postecoglou.

The former Nottingham Forest player has featured a lot in recent weeks with James Maddison and Manor Solomon both out injured.

Johnson, who signed for £50m in the summer, played his part yesterday as he laid on the opener for Richarlison to continue his fine scoring run for the club lately.

And according to Football London’s Alasdair Gold, Johnson is set for a big role under Postecoglou, with the manager apparently having big plans for the forward.

Writing in his end of year review piece for , Gold touches on a number of topics and talking points, including Johnson.

And according to Gold, the Welsh international is going to be a major player for Spurs in 2024.

“Postecoglou has big plans for Johnson and believes the young Wales international has all of the attributes to be a big goal threat in his system,” Gold writes.

Johnson has predominantly been used down the right of the attacking trio when he has played with Postecoglou a big fan of players who have the speed to get in behind defences.

At the moment, with Son out on the left and Richarlison doing well down the middle, things are working out well.

Quite how Johnson will fit in when Kulusevski, Maddison and Son are all back and if Richarlison keeps scoring, remains to be seen.

But it does appear to be good news for Johnson. The fact he has made an impression on Postecoglou bodes well for his future at the club, both short and longer-term.

Right now, the key for Johnson will be keeping his place in the team and crucially, doing the business when he is selected.

Getting assists like yesterday will do him no harm whatsoever and as things stand, he’s ticking along quite nicely it seems in north London.
