Ange Postecoglou has been telling Djed Spence to do something very specific for Tottenham which ‘terrified’ Man United
Djed Spence claimed his second consecutive Premier League Man of the Match as he caused Manchester United serious problems on Sunday.
Spence played a key role in helping Tottenham Hotspur defeat Man United 1-0 in North London with James Maddison’s first-half strike proving to be the only goal.
Tottenham fans lauded Spence’s display against the Red Devils as he dominated the left-hand side of the pitch for the hosts.
Gary Lineker believes Spence might soon get an England call-up and he has Ange Postecoglou’s instructions to thank in part for his fine form.

Djed Spence’s inverted left-back role caused Manchester United ‘nightmares’
Ange Postecoglou’s system is well known for asking the full-backs to invert and Djed Spence has been a perfect fit for this role.
Ruben Amorim’s side struggled to deal with the 24-year-old every time he was on the ball and Alasdair Gold claims he is the epitome of the perfect Postecoglou full-back.
Gold told his YouTube channel: “He was terrific. Every time he was on the ball he terrified United – they didn’t know what to do. He kind of epitomises everything Postecoglou wants his players to do, he’s always looking to progress the ball forward quickly.
“I wonder whether being a right-back playing on the left actually helps him within the Postecoglou system because we know his system on the whole wants the full-backs to be inverted and if he’s playing as a left-back he’s naturally inclined to come in field on to his right.
“I think it causes absolute nightmares for the opposition because they suddenly have this guy who has pace and dribbling ability flying through the middle of the pitch when they were expecting him to be out on the wing.”
Djed Spence dominated Manchester United
Spence is surely now Postecoglou’s first-choice full-back even with Destiny Udogie back fit and Pedro Porro also available.
The former Nottingham Forest man showed he can defend just as well as he can get forward with Porro’s defensive abilities have been questioned.
