Ange Postecoglou gets his wish following recent update about £42m Tottenham player
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou may be sitting quite content following an official announcement made today.
Despite enduring a relatively slow start to the summer, it seems as if the good news will keep coming for Postecoglou and his team.
Archie Gray’s arrival is a huge win for the club, a signal that Spurs’ talent identification and ability to execute high-profile moves is all there.
Not only will Gray be an immediate candidate to start in midfield, the 18-year-old will also be able to cover for Pedro Porro on the right, which has previously caused an issue.
Tottenham are also making progress in their attempts to sell Emerson Royal this summer – negotiations with AC Milan are beginning to gather pace.
And all in all, it’s been a very promising start to July, a month that could still end with a concerted attempt to sign Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
That being said, Postecoglou will have been delighted to receive official news today that Cristian Romero is not in Argentina’s squad for the Paris Olympics.
Tottenham’s Cristian Romero won’t play at Olympics despite saying he’s ‘available’
Romero recently expressed his desire to represent Argentina in Paris, but Postecoglou made his thoughts on the matter clear.
The Tottenham manager risked the wrath of his , suggesting that Romero would be much better off having a rest after his Copa America campaign concludes.

Romero quickly became a vital player for Postecoglou in north London, and Spurs have already been made aware how costly the South American’s absence can be.
Romero missed a series of games through suspension last season, contributing to Tottenham’s early progress slightly derailing.
Admittedly, with Radu Dragusin on board Spurs will be much better-equipped to cope with that absence now.
But Postecoglou would be right to loathe the prospect of Romero arriving late for the season having just played back-to-back international tournaments.
And although he may be disappointed by the decision, Romero will surely understand that it’s the right call.
Although the squad around them is improving all the time, Romero’s partnership with Micky van de Ven is still crucial to the club’s chances of success next season.
That being said, one ‘powerful’ striker has just proved that he’s the perfect addition for Tottenham this summer.
