Ange Postecoglou doesn’t have any plans to use ‘really unlucky’ 24-year-old Tottenham player this season
Journalist Mike McGrath has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are likely to only recall Japhet Tanganga from his loan at Augsburg if they have another move lined up for the 24-year-old this month.
It has been a tough time for Japhet Tanganga. He was given the green light to move to the Bundesliga in the summer. But he is yet to feature in the top-flight for Augsburg.
Tottenham appear set to loan Sergio Reguilon to Brentford. Meanwhile, they have also recalled Alfie Devine from his spell at Port Vale. So some may be wondering whether they may do similar with Tanganga.
Tottenham not planning to recall Japhet Tanganga without another loan being lined up
Of course, Tottenham have been decimated by injuries so far this season, including in defence. Both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have been sidelined at various stages.

Tanganga has previously impressed in the Premier League. So some may be wondering if it may be worth bringing him back to provide further cover while he is not playing in Germany.
But speaking on the podcast, McGrath suggested that Spurs are unlikely to act unless another club offers to take on his loan deal.
“He’s been really, really unlucky with injuries. I think he’s barely played for Augsburg. From what I gather, I don’t think Spurs would really desperately have him back to be part of it. So it would be a case of a club needing to come in and take over that loan rather than him coming back,” he said.
Writing looks to be on the wall for defender at Spurs
Tottenham’s stance may perhaps hint that Tanganga’s long-term future lies away from the club. He is still relatively young. So he has time to put this spell behind him.
However, you would think that Ange Postecoglou would want him playing if he was looking at him as someone who could be involved in the future.
Tanganga’s contract is currently set to expire in 2025. And it does now feel as though it would be best for everyone if he could find a permanent move as soon as possible.
