Ange Postecoglou delivers Lucas Bergvall verdict after Tottenham secure his services

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has shared his thoughts on Lucas Bergvall after the Swedish sensation put pen to paper on a contract at Spurs.

On Friday, Tottenham that they had secured the services of Bergvall, who has agreed a deal with Spurs that begins in July and runs until the summer of 2029.

Tottenham signed the Djurgardens talent following a fierce battle with La Liga giants Barcelona, who were also vying for the 18-year-old midfield prodigy’s services.

Postecoglou, speaking after Tottenham’s 2-2 draw at Everton on Saturday, described Bergvall as a “very talented” young player.

The Spurs boss also said he’s looking forward to working with the young Swede and feels he’ll be good for Tottenham and vice versa.

“He’s a very talented young man,” Postecoglou told Swedish reporters, as transcribed by . “Nice young man too, good family.

“He’s already had a really positive start to his career and we feel like this club will be good for him and he will be good for us.

“Obviously he’ll be at his club for the remainder of this season and then he’ll join us in the summer and I’m looking forward to having him as part of the group.”

Tottenham triumph in race for Lucas Bergvall

For a little while, there were some reports doing the rounds suggesting Barca were ahead of Tottenham in the race for Bergvall.

Then, the state of play for most of transfer deadline day was that the player was deciding between Spurs and the Catalan club.

Late on in the evening, the likes of Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein reported that Bergvall had opted for Tottenham.

Spurs will pay in the region of £8.5million to sign the Sweden Under-21 international from Djurgardens.
