Ange Postecoglou could now start ‘little diamond’ for Spurs against Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur finally get the chance to make amends for their defeat last time out as they return to Premier League action on Saturday.

Spurs did not play a week ago as they were scheduled to meet Chelsea but the match was postponed due to their participation in the Carabao Cup final.

Tottenham went into the enforced break on a low note, having fallen to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers on 17 February.

Now, Spurs have another game against a mid-table side as they welcome Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Tottenham could replace Richarlison with Timo Werner in Spurs front line

Tottenham have been dealt a blow in the shape of Richarlison’s absence. The Brazilian will miss three to four weeks due to an injury he picked up against Wolves.

Postecoglou could now rejig his front line, with Son Heung-min a likely candidate to line up at centre-forward in Richarlison’s place.

On the left, there’s a good chance Timo Werner could come in, and it’ll be a great opportunity for the 27-year-old to stake a claim for a regular starting spot.

Werner is yet to score for Tottenham, but he has impressed with his work-rate and energy since making the loan switch from RB Leipzig.

According to , staff at Tottenham have been pleased with his efforts in training. He should now get the chance to prove himself from the off against Palace.

Werner’s speed, creative spark and progressive play make him a real threat, so it’ll be exciting to see how he fares against the Eagles, particularly considering Joel Ward seemed a against Burnley last week.

Werner has been backed to be a ‘secret little diamond’ for Tottenham so let’s hope that’s the case on Saturday and going forwards.
