Ange Postecoglou confirms ‘outstanding’ 22-year-old is going to start for Tottenham vs Fulham

Ange Postecoglou has now confirmed that Radu Dragusin will start the Premier League clash between Tottenham and Fulham on Saturday.

The 58-year-old made the comments when speaking in his press conference earlier on Friday.

So, what did Ange Postecoglou say about Tottenham No.6 Radu Dragusin? Let’s take a look…

Ange Postecoglou says Radu Dragusin will start for Tottenham against Fulham

Well, the Romania international is yet to actually start a game for Spurs since arriving in a deal from Genoa back in January, despite delivering some “outstanding” displays in training – according to Postecoglou.

Dragusin has been forced to watch from the sidelines due to the formidable partnership of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven – but now has a chance after the latter damaged his hamstring.

Postecoglou is by Football London as saying: “I’ll take the suspense out of it. He’ll start tomorrow. He’s had to be patient for his opportunity with Micky and Cristian being outstanding and one game a week. I thought he did well with his opportunity. I think he can bring us something different.”

Dragusin has only been afforded substitute appearances so far throughout his time in N17 – which have amounted to just 49 minutes of action.

The Romanian even took a ball to his nether regions during Sunday’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa, so it has been a tough start to life in England.

Nevertheless, the 22-year-old feels delighted to be at Tottenham and is eager to fight for his place, according to the defender’s agent, Florin Manea.

Big moment

Van de Ven is arguably in contention to win Tottenham’s Player of the Season award, so Dragusin has a lot to live up to.

It will be a huge moment for the Bucharest-born defender, as he attempts to prove himself worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as the Dutchman and Romero.

It is also unlikely to be a simple game, with Fulham boasting some tricky attackers such as Willian, Adama Traore and Rodrigo Muniz.

Hopefully, Dragusin delivers another solid performance after his impressive cameo against Aston Villa, and gives Postecoglou a real selection headache in the central defence department.
