Ange Postecoglou confirms £43m Tottenham player is set to miss Fulham game this weekend

Ange Postecoglou has now provided an injury update on a key Tottenham Hotspur player ahead of this weekend’s trip to Fulham.

Postecoglou and his team will surely still be in excellent spirit following their win against Aston Villa on the weekend.

And given Villa, who have a game in hand on Spurs, don’t play until Sunday, Tottenham could move up to fourth position with a win at Fulham Saturday evening.

There may be a temptation for Postecoglou to name a mostly unchanged team for the away trip, however, the Spurs boss has been known to tinker.

It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if Timo Werner was reinstated to the side, even if that would seem incredibly harsh on Brennan Johnson.

That being said, it seems as if Postecoglou will be forced into one defensive change when his Tottenham side head to Fulham.

Micky van de Ven hobbled off at Villa Park on Sunday, sparking fears that he may have injured his hamstring in a similar fashion to before.

And whilst Postecoglou doesn’t expect the Dutchman to feature this weekend, he did allay those concerns.

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven likely to miss Fulham game

Postecoglou was speaking to from the training ground and said that the international break will be a good opportunity for Van de Ven to recover.

He explained: “We’re still kind of getting all the information in, look he’s unlikely for this weekend.

“We don’t think it’s anything major but we’ll probably get some more information the back end of the week, so unlikely obviously for Fulham.

“But with the international break hopefully it means he doesn’t miss too much after that.”

Of course, it does bode well that Postecoglou can now turn to Radu Dragusin for Tottenham’s trip to Fulham.

Every game will now be vital for Spurs in their pursuit of fourth, and with the greatest respect, Postecoglou will surely feel more secure with Dragusin replacing his rather than Eric Dier or Ben Davies who have done so in the past.

Allowing Dier to leave in January making way for Dragusin’s arrival does still seem like excellent business, and fortunately it has also worked out well for the Englishman too.

That being said, Jamie Carragher has now been commenting on a former Tottenham player who didn’t leave the club so happily
