Anfield legend Jamie Carragher praises injured Liverpool star Fabinho
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has lavished praise on Fabinho, branding him the best holding midfielder in Europe, and better than several iconic former Reds.
The Anfield legend was speaking after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Napoli in the Champions League, in which Fabinho limped out early.
The Brazilian appears to have sustained an ankle injury, and fans are nervously awaiting news as to the extent of the damage.

Fans have watched Fabinho develop into a truly top-class player in the past year or so, and Carragher delivered an extremely complimentary assessment of the crocked star .
He said: “In Fabinho, Liverpool have maybe the best in Europe in that position – I really believe he’s that good.
“We’ve had [Javier] Mascherano in that position, also maybe at times Xabi Alonso so we’ve had some really good players in that position, but I actually think Fabinho is the best – certainly, better than Mascherano or Didi Hamann who are very destructive players.
“I think Liverpool have got someone really special.”
TBR’s view – Fabinho going the right way about it
Fabinho has been showing an extremely high level for Liverpool since breaking into the team as a regular this time last year.

There is little doubt he is now up there with the best in the world in his position.
Whether he’s already better than the likes of Mascherano and Alonso is perhaps up for debate, purely because he’s only been at Anfield for a year and a few months.
Certainly though if he sticks around and keeps to these current standards, there will eventually be little room for debate.
