Andy Townsend suggests ‘incredible’ Aston Villa player has proven him wrong

TalkSPORT pundit Andy Townsend has now spoken highly of a Villans player who ha꧅s been “incredible” over the past few years.
Indeed, the former Villa ace suggested that he had got it wrong over s🐠aid player, admitting he “didn’t think he was capable” of reaching this ౠlevel.

The player in question is Ollie Watkins, who was among the top scorers in the Premier League las𓃲t ♍season.
Watkins was Villa’s top goalscorer last term as he netted 27 goals in all competitions, including 19 in th༒e league😼, plus 13 assists.
“What I will say about Ollie Watkins,” Townsend said on t💎alkSPORT (15/10/2024, 9:26am).
“I think he has taken his game onto a level that I didn’t think he was capable of perhaps finding. I think🔯 he has been incredible last couple of years.”
How many goals has Watkins scored in each of his seasons at Villa?
Although Watkins has gone up to another level over the past few years, he has always been a fairly consistent scorer forღ Villa.
The 28-year-old joined Villa in September 2020 and scored 16 goals in his maiden season at B6, of which 14 were in the P💮remier League.
Watkins broke into double figures again in 2021/22, bagging 1💫1 goals from 35 Premier League outings.
He then grabbꦗed 15 goals in 2022/23, of w𓄧hich 15 came in the top flight, plus one in the Carabao Cup.
Watkins then went up to another level with his 19 league goals last season, plus a further eight in tꦍhe Europa Conferenceꦕ League.
The England international has hit the ground running this season too, with four goals from his opening seve🦄n ⛦league appearances.
