Andy Townsend left applauding £15m Tottenham man after ‘brilliant’ moment yesterday
Pundit Andy Townsend was left in awe of one Tottenham Hotspur player in the spectacular win over Aston Villa yesterday.
If it was meant to be a nervy afternoon for Ange Postecoglou and side then someone should have probably said.

Because Tottenham arrived at Villa Park full of belief, inspired by the likes of Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski who were pressing incredibly well up top.
In truth, there wasn’t a poor display in a Spurs shirt, and having rode some early danger on the counter, Postecoglou’s side were then able to control the game, much to John McGinn’s frustration.
It was something of a masterclass, and Pape Matar Sarr deserves a ton of praise for his influence in the middle of the park.
Postecoglou made the call to start Sarr ahead of Rodrigo Bentancur given his impact against Crystal Palace, and the midfielder certainly didn’t disappoint.
And when discussing his part in Tottenham’s opening goal against Villa on , Andy Townsend was pretty blown away.
Sarr whipped in a delightful delivery for James Maddison to tap home, and the rest was history.
Andy Townsend loved Pape Matar Sarr’s assist for Tottenham against Villa yesterday
Sarr did deliver a cross that any Tottenham winger would have been proud of, a moment that probably won the game.
Reflecting on that assist, Townsend said: “Tottenham were good, very, very good. What about that ball from Pape Matar Sarr for the first goal?

“What a cross that is.”
He then finished: “Such a brilliant ball in and Maddison getting himself in the box.”
It was a moment that not only demonstrated how underrated Sarr still is, but also one that proved that he offers something that no other Spurs midfielder can.
Townsend spoke about Maddison doing well to get into the Villa box, but it was his Tottenham teammate that was doing the most important running.
Unlike Yves Bissouma or Bentancur, Sarr is willing to run in behind, as we saw for his recent goal against Brighton & Hove Albion.
And that perhaps proves why Sarr and Bissouma remain as Tottenham’s strongest pairing in the middle.
