David Turnbull scored two beautiful goals for Celtic as Ange Postecoglou secured his third win in three games. In front of a capacity Celtic Park, the Hoops cruised to a 3-0 win over Jablonec – 7-2 on aggregate. Andy Robertson and Stuart Armstrong praised Celtic ace Turnbull on Instagram.
Having won the first leg 4-2, Celtic were tasked with building on their two successive wins by making it three from three. Postecoglou fielded a strong side to take on Jablonec – and it did the job. Kyogo Furuhashi should have added to his four Celtic goals, but it was Turnbull that stole the headlines.
Turnbull opened the scoring. Latching on to a nice pass from Greg Taylor, he finished superbly with a flick of his right foot. Then, receiving a pass from Callum McGregor – Turnbull lashed home an effort from 25 yards into the bottom corner.
Turnbull brace: Robertson and Armstrong praise Celtic star
Following a shaky start for Celtic under Postecoglou, the Hoops have got their act together. A change in midfield has been particularly crucial to that – pushing Turnbull deeper alongside McGregor in place of Ismaila Soro. Against Dundee and Jablonec, it has worked to perfection.
It allows McGregor to do what Soro was doing – protecting the back four, something which he is excellent at. It also gives Turnbull more time and space to get on the ball and create chances. His ability to shoot from distances comes into play. Tom Rogic has benefitted, being used as a 10.
Liverpool star and Scotland skipper Robertson was full of praise, as was Southampton star and ex-Celtic midfielder Armstrong on Instagram.
