Andy Robertson and Adrian posts tweets after Liverpool lose to Atletico Madrid
Liverpool saw their hopes of retaining their Champions League crown suffer a blow last night, as Atletico Madrid held out for a 1-0 victory at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Saul Niguez scored after just four minutes and then did what they do best and stood firm defensively to deny Liverpool.
It was a Diego Simeone masterclass of epic proportion and Jurgen Klopp will know that his team has it all to do back at Anfield in March.
Despite sitting fourth in La Liga, Atletico were bang up for the game. They frustrated, tormented and bamboozled Liverpool who didn’t have a single shot on target in the 90 minutes.

It wasn’t to be for the Reds and they must find another way to break down a dogged Atletico during the second leg, otherwise, their dreams of another European crown could evaporate into the Merseyside skies.
Confidence in the camp still seems high though and after the game, some of Liverpool’s players came out in confident spirits.
Andy Robertson tried desperately to get Liverpool going down the left-hand side and he took to Twitter to speak of his frustration and praise the travelling army of supporters:
Frustrating night. But we still have Anfield!!! Incredible support as ever

Adrian was on the bench as Alisson’s deputy last night and he also posted a tweet following the game.
The Spaniard signed on a free transfer during the summer and has proved a safe pair of hands when called upon.
He indicated that it’ll be a different contest when the two sides meet at Anfield:
Now more than ever ANFIELD IS WAITING 💪🏻🔴
— Adrián San Miguel (@AdriSanMiguel)
Liverpool haven’t endured too many frustrating nights this season but certainly, last night was one of them.
The Reds will be better at home and one thing Diego Simeone won’t be able to do at Anfield is rally the crowd as he did last night.
