Andy Halliday discusses potential Celtic appointment

that he believes interim manager John Kennedy could be hired permanently by Celtic, as he remains in temporary charge of the Scottish giants – following Neil Lennon’s resignation in February.

Kennedy has since taken charge of five league games, picking up 11 points from a possible 15 but succumbing to a point against Rangers in which the Hoops failed to prevent Steven Gerrard’s side from remaining unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership.

Eddie Howe remains favourite to take over at Celtic though there is interest from Crystal Palace and Newcastle, according to reports. But Kennedy remains in with a shout of the Celtic job and while he remains unbeaten, he might have a chance.

That is the belief of ex-Rangers man Halliday, who reckons Kennedy could be the man to take over from Lennon beyond the end of the season. He stated that Celtic failing to rule him out of being the club’s next manager points towards him having a chance.

“I think so, I said it weeks ago,” “He was touted to be the next Celtic manager four or five years ago. The Celtic hierarchy have never ruled him out of potentially being the next Celtic boss. I don’t think he’s favourite, but there is a chance.”

TBR’s view – Kennedy’s chances grow by the day

The longer Kennedy remains in charge at Celtic as interim manager, the more chances he has of becoming the permanent Celtic boss. That is because he will be convincing players on the training ground, as he grows more and more accustomed to the role.

So, the more Celtic continue to stick with Kennedy – the more likely he becomes Celtic manager. It becomes more convenient, the relationship is already there with the players, he knows how things work. But surely, Celtic need to hire someone else.
