Andy Gray tears into Everton star Djibril Sidibe, as Chelsea run riot

as the Frenchman struggled during Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Sidibe, 27, was handed his 24th appearance for the Merseyside outfit since joining the club on loan from Monaco – but he struggled form start to finish. His only highlight came in making a last-ditch tackle on Chelsea sub Tino Anjorin.

An 18-time France international, Sidibe’s positioning was all over the place and the likes of Pedro, Mason Mount Ross Barkley, Willian and Olivier Giroud took advantage. Everton have a £13million clause to make the loan permanent.

Everton icon Gray was asked about Sidibe’s performance and the ex-Toffee absolutely tore into Sidibe, claiming he might as well have been alongside himself in the BeIN Sports studio.

“Honestly, he might as well have been sat with me this afternoon,” . “I hate saying that about a footballer because I know how difficult it is to play at this level. But he’s had one of those days, in possession, defensively, all over the shop.”

TBR’s view – Surely Ancelotti will avoid permanent clause?

When Everton completed a deal for Sidibe, many thought The Toffees had pulled off a major coup in signing the Frenchman. Indeed, in glimpses, Sidibe has impressed for Everton – laying on five assists this season.

For £13million, Sidibe could still be a good signing for Everton on a permanent basis. But with Seamus Coleman a more than adequate defender and Jonjoe Kenny impressing on loan at Schalke, will that money be better off spent elsewhere?
