Andy Gray hammers Ross Barley for antics during Aston Villa win
Former Aston Villa striker Andy Gray has told that Dean Smith could drop Ross Barkley for the next fixture.
Barkley reacted petulantly to being substituted during a 1-0 win over Arsenal and Gray doesn’t believe it will go down well.
The 27-year-old was hooked with 12 minutes remaining yesterday, with youngster Jacob Ramsey replacing him.
On-loan from Chelsea, Barkley was then spotted kicking a water bottle in disgust at Smith’s decision.
Gray thought his outburst was uncalled for and can’t see it washing with boss Smith.
“He’s been given a great opportunity, never got a kick at Chelsea. You can be disappointed but don’t go kicking stuff, especially when the coach sees you. It’ll be interesting to see if the coach plays him in the next game.”
Barkley has scored four goals in 15 outings for Villa since joining on loan from Stamford Bridge.
He recently missed seven Premier League fixtures with a hamstring problem and is still working his way towards full fitness.
The man with 33 England caps has proved a decent addition for Villa and the hope will be that a permanent deal can be struck.
Barkley earnsat present and the Villans will be hoping to do something.

What the midfielder did wasn’t called for but it was a heat of the moment situation and one that Smith will surely understand.
Barkley has been one of Villa’s best signings this season and is integral to how the team play.
Gray is right to question why he acted in the manner he did, but it’s unlikely to cost him his place in the Villa team.
