Andy Couzens and Ian Harte react as Leeds lose to Brentford
Andy Couzens and Ian Harte have vented their frustration on Twitter after Leeds United’s automatic promotion hopes suffered a huge blow on Monday evening.
Leeds were beaten 2-0 by Brentford at Griffin Park, as striker Neal Maupay and winger Sergi Canos scored goals either side of half-time to see of Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
The Whites were devoid of any real quality throughout the match. The likes of Pablo Hernandez, Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts are renowned for their creativity, but they struggled to show that.
Patrick Bamford had a strong case for a penalty turned down by Keith Stroud, while Roberts’ heavy touch when one-on-one with Bees goalkeeper Luke Daniels ruined a golden chance.
Leeds legend Harte and former midfielder Couzens both reacted on Twitter to the result, with Harte shocked by Leeds’ lack of passion. Couzens, meanwhile, criticised Leeds’ defending.
Well if you don’t defend properly that’s what happens!!! Looks like the play offs now and we would have definitely taken that at the start of the season still believe in this team to make us proud!!
— andy couzens (@andycuz23)
Come on show some passion!!! 😤😡

TBR’s view
Both former players have very strong points. Leeds were completely lacklustre, showing almost zero passion against a side that were desperate to derail their promotion hopes.
Two league games remain. If Leeds are to put the pressure on Sheffield United, then two wins are a must. Two win remains crucial even if the Whites go into the play-offs, as momentum is key.
Bielsa’s side have to show some fight and determination against Ipswich and Aston Villa, or their hard work this season could be about to be for nothing.
