Andros Townsend thinks Spurs boss Ryan Mason will look to integrate Dele Alli ‘as quick as possible’

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli hasn’t had the best of seasons, with Jose Mourinho keeping him on the sidelines at Spurs for much of the campaign.

Indeed, Alli was reportedly eyeing a departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January, but Daniel Levy is said to have blocked a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Since then, the 25-year-old has managed the occasional start, mostly in the Europa League.

However, Alli’s appearance and game time tally still makes for underwhelming reading – .

With Mourinho now gone and Ryan Mason in interim charge, former Tottenham winger Andros Townsend reckons Alli has a good chance of being reintegrated as quickly as possible.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s League Cup final against Manchester City, Townsend spoke to about who he thinks Mason will select in his starting line-up.

“The fact that he’s Spurs fan and he knows what the fans want, obviously a front three, in an ideal world, of Kane, Son, and Bale,” the Crystal Palace ace said.

“Hopefully that’s for Sunday [against Manchester City] because Kane’s struggling with an injury.

“Behind, for me, Hojbjerg has to play, so Hojbjerg, Ndombele, maybe Dele Alli. He’s not played in a long time, is he match fit, is he not?

“Maybe Lucas initially as he’s been one of their best players recently and he’s up to speed but I’m sure he’ll look to integrate Dele Alli as quick as possible if he’s fit to do so.”

TBR View:

It’s not been a good season for Spurs, and Alli is just one of several players who has endured a difficult time under Mourinho.

He’s a talented player who’s shown he has what it takes at the top level, so hopefully Mason will look to get the best out of him over the coming weeks and set the stage for a big comeback next term.
