Andros Townsend posts Twitter message from Tottenham stadium
Andros Townsend posted a photo on Twitter from Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium as he watched his boyhood club beat Manchester City 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League tie.
Hugo Lloris saved a penalty from Sergio Aguero after a controversial VAR decision saw Danny Rose concede the spot kick. Spurs had the better chances and finally broke the deadlock in the 78th minute.
Son Heung-min could not get on the end of a through ball from Christian Eriksen, but he kept it alive. He turned Fabian Delph before firing the ball underneath goalkeeper Ederson.
Ex-Spurs winger Townsend – who is currently at Crystal Palace following his £13million () move to Selhurst Park from Newcastle in the summer of 2016 – uploaded a photo from the stands as Spurs earned a narrow win.

TBR’s view
Townsend attending the match at the new stadium shows just how much the ground means to Tottenham as a club, the supporters and even ex-players.
It is a huge landmark in the club’s history – so much so that Townsend has put aside his loyalties with London side Palace to attend Spurs’ second ever match.
The boyhood Spurs man is held in high regard by supporters of the north London club after playing 93 times for Tottenham – amid 10 loans.
