Andros Townsend makes surprising claim about Everton defender

of Everton winning 3-1 over Burnley that Michael Keane is one of the “best finishers” at the club.

Everton came from behind to beat Burnley 3-1, after Ben Mee opened the scoring for the Clarets. Keane got the ball rolling, heading past Nick Pope.

Townsend laid on the cross for Keane, and then scored one of his own – curling a glorious effort past Nick Pope from all of 25 yards.

It was moments later when Demarai Gray was played through on goal by Abdoulaye Doucoure. Townsend, though, won the plaudits after the game.

Speaking after the match, Townsend had praise for £30m () teammate Keane. He surprisingly claimed Keane is one of the Everton’s best finishers.

“Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a big loss but we have players who can step up. Michael Keane is one of the best finishers I have ever seen,”

Townsend on Keane: Does his Everton goal tally need to improve?

If Townsend’s claim that Keane is one of the best finishers “he has ever seen, then surely the defender needs to be scoring more goals.

The ex-Manchester United man has just nine goals in 153 appearances for the Toffees. Hardly setting the world alight in front of goal.

But if Townsend’s comments hold some weight, then Keane needs to be adding more goals to his game from corners and set-pieces this term.

If Keane can scored more than five goals, then he becomes a real asset not only in defence – but in attack, too. It gives Everton another dimension.
