Andreas Pereira says 23-year-old forward wanted by Arsenal is ‘so smooth’

Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to apply the finishing touches to his squad.

The Gunners have gone from strength to strength since the Spaniard took the reins, but there’s still some work to do.

Arsenal aren’t quite the finished product just yet, but one or two more transfer windows could see the Gunners get to that stage.

Plenty of players are being linked with Arsenal, including some of the very best in the business, such as Rodrygo Goes.

According to Spanish newspaper (21 March 2024, page 17), the Gunners – plus Liverpool – have touched base with Real Madrid over the Brazilian.

Admittedly, he’d be a difficult transfer to pull off, as Los Blancos reportedly see him as indispensable.

That said, if he does become available, the report claims Real Madrid will want at least €100million (£85million) to let Rodrygo go this summer.

Now, Fulham star and Brazil international Andreas Pereira has spoken about what makes the reported Arsenal target so good.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on , the 28-year-old said: “I would say Rodrigo is more… he can play as a number 10, right wing, left wing, false nine…

“He played the two games in the national team as a false nine. He’s just so smooth, you know, with everything. You cannot put pressure on him… he turns right, turns left.”

Although Rodrygo is shining for Real, the club’s of their front line could potentially throw his future at the Bernabeu in doubt.

He’d certainly be a great shout for Arsenal thanks to his quality and versatility, not to mention resale value. Let’s see whether anything develops in the coming months.

Even though it looks unlikely at present, anything can happen in football, so the Gunners may well probe further to see if they can at least get some discussions going.
