Andrea Radrizzani responds to Leeds fan requesting Champions League football
Leeds United last played in the Champions League back in 2001, reaching the semi-finals of the competition before losing to Valencia – and current owner Andrea Radrizzani has jokingly responded that it will take three years to return to that level.
The financial collapse of 2004 under previous chairman Peter Ridsdale saw Leeds go from Champions League semi-finalists to relegation, thus starting a spell in the Football League until now – including a stint in League One.
Now, Leeds are the closest they have been to returning to the top tier of English football. Marcelo Bielsa has restored optimism at Elland Road, and the Whites sit at the top of the second tier after seven league games played.
A Leeds fan has become so optimistic that the Whites will return to the Premier League that he is hoping Champions League football will return to Elland Road in two years – to which Radrizzani responded.

TBR’s view – Promotion first, but Radrizzani will be at Leeds for years
Owner Radrizzani is the first supremo at Elland Road that Leeds fans have been able to trust for years. The family feel, which was more than apparent in the recent documentary, has been pivotal to the good feeling at Leeds.
Promotion seems somewhat inevitable. It came close last season and it is expected that Leeds will go closer this time around. But what seems more likely is that Radrizzani will remain, so Champions League football under the Italian? Who knows.
