Andrea Radrizzani responds to Leeds fan as Adam Forshaw impresses during cameo against Fulham

Adam Forshaw impressed off the bench as Leeds beat Fulham to win on penalties in the Cup – and Andrea Radrizzani has responded to a fan.

Leeds travelled south to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage, a tie that struggling Premier League clubs would rather avoid. Fulham are confident.

The Cottagers have made a good start to the season, while Leeds are yet to win once in their five Premier League matches. Leeds had injuries, too.

Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Jack Harrison were all missing – with Pascal Struijk still serving a suspension.

Leeds fielded a much-changed side, including the combination of Charlie Cresswell and Kalvin Phillips at centre-back. Forshaw was on the bench.

The midfielder came on after 55 minutes, replacing Tyler Roberts. He did well, but did miss a penalty in the shootout – blazing over from 12 yards.

It comes after Radrizzani was criticised for responding to a Leeds fan in August, naming Forshaw when asked if Leeds were signing a midfielder.

Radrizzani on Forshaw: Leeds star has future at Elland Road

Serving the best part of two years on the sidelines without a senior outing due to a terrible hip problem, Leeds could easily have let him go.

But they placed their faith in the ex-Middlesbrough man, who is well-liked among the Leeds players. He returned against Crewe in the previous round.

Coming on against Fulham, he did well. Forshaw might be needed this weekend, with injuries mounting. Radrizzani responded to another fan.

This time, a fan Tweeted Radrizzani upon Forshaw’s introduction. He said, “our saviour is now on”. Radrizzani responded, backing Leeds star Forshaw.
