Andrea Radrizzani praises Leeds Under-23 side after PDL triumph

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has applauded the work of Carlos Corberan and the Under-23 side after the Spaniard guided Leeds’ second string to the Professional Development League title.

The Whites’ second string have benefited from the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa throughout the season. The Argentine has used the reserves more than most managers.

The likes of Izzy Brown, Jamie Shackleton, Jack Clarke, Leif Davis and Robbie Gotts all starred on Monday night, as the Under-23’s went into a clash with Colchester United.

The Whites had to win the match in order to claim the title and they did just that, winning 2-0. Ryan Edmondson scored both goals, after Jordan Stevens and Clarke supplied excellent assists – to the delight of Radrizzani.

TBR’s view

The Under-23 side have been excellent all season, and it is testament to Radrizzani’s desire to improve the youth at Leeds. The likes of Davis, Shackleton, Clarke, Stevens, Edmondson and more have all played for the senior side.

It could be a secret weapon for Bielsa, with other sides hardly using it as much as Leeds. Injured players have to prove their fitness for the Under-23 side before returning to the firsts.

Hats off to Corberan. But more importantly, Radrizzani deserves credit.
