Andrea Berta has held talks with £58m striker who has strong interest in joining Arsenal
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has held discussions with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, TBR Football can exclusively reveal.
Arsenal were extensively linked with 21-year-old Sesko last summer, a number nine who has several admirers at the Emirates Stadium.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, Sesko decided that he wanted to remain with Leipzig in the Bundesliga for at least one more season, signing a new contract in the process.
Now, the Slovenian has scored 20 goals in 41 matches for the German side, a young striker who is continuing to prove his rich potential.
And whilst Arsenal would prefer to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in an ideal world, Sesko is emerging as a serious option once again.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can reveal that Arsenal are still very much in the mix for Sesko’s signature and that Berta had held talks with his camp in recent weeks.
Arsenal are also interested in Viktor Gyokeres — another prominent candidate to act as an alternative to Isak, who may not be available.

Newcastle are determined to keep Isak and therefore Berta has been quick to establish a list of other options.
That being said, Gyokeres and Sesko are emerging as the club’s most likely candidates at this point, but Berta will continue to explore every possibility.
Of course, Arsenal are interested in Hugo Ekitike at Eintracht Frankfurt too, another striker the club have held discussions with.
However, whilst Ekitike has impressed Arsenal’s scouts, the young striker would likely cost more than both Gyokeres and Sesko.
There could have been situations where Arsenal actually looked at signing two number nines this summer, however, it looks as if only one will come in for now.
Benjamin Sesko is interested in joining Arsenal
Fortunately for Arsenal, there is strong interest from Sesko in a potential move away from Leipzig this summer.
The German side recently sacked manager Marco Rose and they are being pushed all the way in the Bundesliga in terms of winning a Champions League spot.
Arsenal were interested in signing Sesko in January when they had just lost Gabriel Jesus to injury, but it quickly became clear that a move wouldn’t be possible.
Of course, the Gunners aren’t the only English side interested in £58m-rated Sesko this summer.
Premier League clubs scouted a number of Leipzig players recently and it seems as if a number of the German club’s star players could be chased.
Chelsea are also keen on Sesko, and the race for his signature may be a hot one in a few months’ time.
