Anderlecht reportedly made call regarding interest in Yannick Bolasie

Everton managed to find a new club for out-of-favour winger Yannick Bolasie before the transfer window shut across Europe this week.

The DR Congo attacker has headed to Sporting Lisbon on loan for the season. As reported by the club have agreed on a deal which includes an option-to-buy Bolasie permanently for €4.5 million (£4.1m) at the end of the season.

But it seems Bolasie did have another option. , his former loan club Anderlecht made another attempt to sign Bolasie on deadline day.

After missing out on Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne, who joined rivals Club Brugge, the Brussels-based club made a call to try bring Bolasie back to the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium. Bolasie played 17 times for Anderlecht last season, scoring six goals.

The deal for Bolasie to join Sporting looks a good one for Everton. Not only have they managed to move him on for the season, but there is a clear chance he could be permanently gone next summer.

There is no suggestion that a deal with Anderlecht would have included such a stipulation and Everton will be pleased they managed to secure his move to Marco Silva’s former club.
