‘Amazing’ player who left Tottenham in the summer admits he still loves the club

Tottenham Hotspur saw a huge turnover in players over the summer transfer window with considerable change sanctioned.

Ange Postecoglou has now had three transfer windows to oversee the start of his project in north London.

And that saw the summer window present the Australian with the first opportunity to really make some major changes to the squad which he inherited.

Over the course of the summer, Johan Lange sanctioned 16 departures across a variety of means including sales and loans.

Over the course of the opening two months of the 2024/25 campaign the departing players have experienced a variety of success.

But there is one player who has already admitted that he still holds a real love for Tottenham and continues to cheer them on.

What Japhet Tanganga has said about Tottenham since leaving

Spurs have allowed a number of their homegrown talents to depart the club over the last 12 months including the likes of Harry Kane.

Some of Tottenham’s youngsters have also departed on loan this summer in search of more regular football.

But one player who has departed permanently this summer was Japhet Tanganga who joined Millwall following a promising loan spell.

Speaking to Italian journalist , Tanganga has revealed just how hard it was for him to leave his boyhood club.

“Tottenham will always be my first home and will have a special place in my heart. I had already matured the decision to leave and look for continuity, but the day of farewell was still difficult,” Tanganga said.

“You don’t easily part with a love like that. And in fact now I continue to follow them, I cheer for my former teammates and I know that sooner or later they will return to a final and win it, they deserve it.”

How Japhet Tanganga has done since leaving Tottenham

Tanganga’s time at Tottenham realistically came to an end a while ago having spent all of last season out on loan.

The defender spent time with Augsburg and then Millwall following the failed loan spell over in the Bundesliga.

But after a positive second half of the 2023/24 campaign in the Championship, Tanganga joined the Millwall on a permanent deal.

Tanganga was once hailed ‘‘ by Jose Mourinho but did miss the opening two league games through suspension but he has played every minute when available in the Championship.
