Harry Winks was once viewed by many as the future of Tottenham Hotspur‘s midfield but things haven’t quite been great for the 26-year-old.

Antonio Conte’s men seem to have turned things around in the Premier League. They are currently fourth in the league table, which is exactly where they want to be when the season comes to an end next month.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been Tottenham’s star men but Conte’s two January signings – Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski – have both made a massive difference since their arrival.

The former’s recruitment came in as bad news for Winks and things could soon get even worse for him.

Harry Winks may have already played his last game for Tottenham

Winks has played a grand total of 17 minutes of football in Tottenham’s last five Premier League games. That is not enough at all and it’s about to go from bad to worse.

revealed this week that Oliver Skipp is set to return to full training by the end of this week. He could well be back in action when Spurs host Brighton on the 16th of this month, which is a massive boost for Conte.

Skipp and Bentancur will likely be the Italian’s preferred midfield pairing when everyone’s fit, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will be the first option off the bench if needed.

That pushes Winks away from regular action and he may not play at all for Tottenham again considering that he’s likely to leave the club this summer.

What next for Winks?

Harry Winks, , will enter the final two years of his contract this summer.

The Englishman that he wasn’t happy with the lack of game time in North London. Skipp’s injury and Hojbjerg’s poor form changed that to a certain extent, but it looks like he’ll be back to being a squad player very soon.

That’s not ideal at all for someone who’s entering the prime years of his career and a move away this summer makes a lot of sense for both parties.

It will be interesting to see where Winks will end up if he leaves Tottenham this summer. If he finds the right club and a manager who trusts him, he could become a real star in the Premier League.
