What Amanda Staveley said about Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon

A lot was made, last month, about Newcastle’s need to offload some of their top players to balance the⛦ books aga꧟inst PSR.

The Toon were able to escape June without selling the likes of Alexander Isak or Anthony Gordon.

Howeve♓r, they did 🐲have to let go of young prospects Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh who provided them with enough funds to ease the fears of a potential points deduction.

Speaking to , Stave𓆏ley has now shared her concerns about having potentially lost Gordon and Isak this summer.

“My biggest con🍒cern was♛ that we’d lose Alex (Isak) or Anthony (Gordon) because Liverpool chased him and both are extraordinary players,” Staveley said.

“Negotiating is tough be𒊎cause you have to pretend it means nothing to you when it means everything.”

Amanda Staveley shares honest PSR verdict

PSR was a very real issue🅷 for Neౠwcastle this summer as they risked overstepping the mark and picking up a penalty like Everton and Nottingham Forest did last season.

However,ꦓ Staveley has admitted she did not want to leave the club before they had the all clear to move on from their financial worries so the likes of Darren Eales could tak🎃e the club forward in their absence.

“I knewꦓ what was coming in terms of me leaving but the fans and PIF deserved every♍ focus of mine,” Staveley added.

“Had I left before (the PSR deadline) and we’d breached😼, then that would have been bad. It was very,💮 very difficult, but I was determined to make sure Darren has a clear runway.”
