Amadou Onana left amazed on Instagram by 25-year-old Everton teammate’s display
Amadou Onana was amongst the Everton players to laud Ben Godfrey on social media after the defender made a brilliant return to the side for their win over Burnley.
Sean Dyche’s side secured another impressive victory to put more daylight between themselves and the bottom three in the Premier League. It was Amadou Onana and Michael Keane who scored the two goals for the Toffees.
But Ben Godfrey had his own moment to really shine as Jarrad Branthwaite’s suspension handed the defender the chance to come into the side for a rare start.
Amadou Onana praises Ben Godfrey after Everton win
And the 25-year-old made a crucial impact. It was Godfrey who produced an outstanding interception to deny Burnley when it appeared that they were about to score.

Certainly, many of his Everton teammates were really impressed by the former Norwich City youngster’s display at Turf Moor.
Godfrey took to following the win. And Onana was one of those who lauded the defender…

Potential turning point for Toffees defender
You would expect that Branthwaite will return to the side for their next game. But Godfrey deserves credit for making an impression considering he had not featured in the Premier League at all since September.
There is speculation that Godfrey could leave Goodison Park in the January transfer window. And given the depth Everton now have at centre-back, you could understand why he may be keen to move on.
But the Toffees are finally moving in the right direction now that Dyche is at the helm. And he will be wary of weakening his squad next month, particularly if he does not have the funds to find a replacement.
Godfrey showed on Saturday that he still has plenty to offer Everton right now. And all it may take is one significant injury before he is back in the fold on a much more regular basis.
