‘Always wanting to do extra’: Ledley King says 23-year-old Spurs player often leaves training last

Ledley King has explained that Joe Rodon is often the Tottenham player who is last to leave training.

King, who is the first team assistant at Spurs, has given praise to the 23-year-old defender.

Rodon, who’s impressing at Euro 2020 with Wales, is a highly-rated centre-back.

It was a mixed debut season for him during the 2020/21 campaign at Spurs. For instance, he only made just 14 senior appearances. Additionally, he was unable to really stamp his authority in the XI when he played.

However, it won’t be a surprise to see him feature more regularly moving forward.

The powerhouse centre-half will need to try impress whoever is appointed as the next Spurs manager because they will have a new man in charge. His Euro performances surely won’t be doing him any harm.

King has intriguingly revealed that Rodon is an individual always striving to do extra training.

“We did a lot of individual work at Spurs after training, which shows his character. A lot of players can be down when they’re not playing and want to get off the training pitch as soon as possible, but Joe was often the last there, always wanting to do extra,” King told the .

Hard work and training will pay off for Rodon at Tottenham

The centre-back positions at Spurs look up for grabs right now. Therefore, Rodon should have faith he can break into the XI.

He’s now had a flavour of Premier League football after stepping up to the top flight last summer, but he’s got to kick on.

Rodon looks a real leader at the back for Wales, something Spurs are crying out for in the heart of their own defence.

It’s going to be interesting to see how next season unfolds for him.
