‘Always’: £45m Premier League star says he’s such a big Leeds fan he’s been watching their games in the dressing room

Kalvin Phillips has told that he’s such a big Leeds United fan and he’s been watching their games in the Manchester City dressing room.

Phillips made the switch to the Etihad over the summer in a deal worth up to £45 million ().

The 26-year-old spent 12 years in Yorkshire and came through the Leeds academy set-up.

He went on to become an England international during his time at Leeds and his impressive form earned him a move to the Premier League champions.

Now, just four months after leaving his boyhood club, Phillips has revealed that he was watching his old side in the City dressing room back in September.

Phillips a big Leeds fan

, Phillips declared his love for his former side and says he will always be a Whites fan.

“Think it was Newcastle away and Leeds were playing before us and I was literally sat in the changing room watching the Leeds game and looking at the result before we went out,” he said.

“I have grown up in Leeds, I love Leeds, they’re my home town club and I loved every minute there and I loved the fact they allowed me to come to Manchester City and progress my career.

“I’ll always be a supporter of them.”

It’s not surprising to hear that Phillips has been watching Leeds and checking their scores.

The City midfielder was a fan-favourite at Elland Road and Leeds fans will love to hear that Phillips still follows their team closely.

Phillips has found gametime hard to come by in Manchester and is yet to start a game under Pep Guardiola.

The midfielder hasn’t been helped by the fact he picked up a shoulder injury which could now rule him out of the World Cup.

Leeds have coped well after Phillips left over the summer, with Tyler Adams impressing from central midfield.

Jesse Marsch’s men have now won consecutive games in the Premier League after coming through a poor run of form.
